I posted this Merry Christmas before leaving work on Wed, 12/23. About three hours later, I was on my way to the emergency room.  Somewhere around 8 pm, my whole right side exploded in red hot burning pain. Fearing appendicitis, Dad rushed me to the hospital where they found that I was in the midst of passing my first kidney stone. Interesting how fast life changes, no? There I was, thinking my first night of vacation was going to be super fun...and boom. Nope. I can't really describe the pain, but if this blog is for the logging of memories, I'm pretty sure I won't forget how that felt.

I think I've passed the stone...I feel mostly better now, a few sharp pains and lots of soreness. I feel wierd from so much pain medicine. I have a cool IV bruise to show everyone.

Just thought I'd log that story away.

I haven't got anything else to say about this particular unpleasant experience, except that kidney stones are not fun. Morphine is nice, though!!

Christmas post coming up. My family is still here for the rest of the week, so I intend to soak up every minute of their visit.

Hope you all had wonderful (and kidney stone free) Christmases!

Welcome to the Kidney Stone Club! I'm glad to have a compadre. My second stone was born on your dad's birthday several years ago, but wouldn't pass, just flaked off. It was nasty. Had to have a stint put in--I don't recommend it. Had my third last summer. Didn't even bother going to the hospital for it, although I missed out on the morphine. Bummer.

Oh, I guess I should say--I'm so sorry you were in pain. But just think, now you know real pain! Like my doctor said, now having a baby will be a breeze!
