Truckin' Along

Greetings, dear ones! I think its time for a new post, just in case anyone out there is interested. I am. I love reading your blogs!
To those of you who know: No, I don’t get to direct Thoroughly Modern Milly. I had one phone interview and an appointment to meet with the school’s director, and then they hired a drama teacher. Go figure! So close! I’m bummed I don’t get to direct…bummed I won’t earn all that moolah, but here’s a plus: someone out there is talking about me as if I were capable of putting on a real play, so that’s totally awesome. Not complaining!

Now, talking about new jobs, I got one. It’s a temp position, only part time, but now that my full time job isn’t so full time anymore, its perfect. They’ve reduced my hours to TWO days a week at Rack-it. Yick! They’ve slowly taken hours over the last six months. At first, it was totally cool to have one day off a month. It meant sleeping in, doing some shopping, girl’s night out turned into girl’s day out, and it was super fun. But then it was one day off a week, then two days , then three…and with only two days left, here the employees of Rack-it hang in suspense, chewing our fingernails and waiting for things to change. So, now with only two days of work, I’ve been getting too much sleep (yes, it’s possible), shopping for anything outside of toothpaste is not an option, and girl’s day out is cancelled until further notice. So, no, the free time is not so fun anymore. There are only so many movies one can watch in a day. This temp position is just what I needed. I went to work every day of the week this week. That feels so darn good! I’ve been working for a company that does certification of fire equipment. So, now, not only do I know way more about trucks than I ever wanted to, but about the laws and procedures pertaining to fire codes….important stuff to know just in case I ever own a truck and/or an apartment complex…not likely that I ever will (outside my SIM game).

Last weekend I sang in the stake talent show. Dad played piano for me. Totally fun. I love getting in front of people to sing. I did an American art song called A Horse With Wings. It’s beautiful, but different, unexpected…and difficult! I enjoy entertaining an audience, and with this song, I also gave them something to think about. I also get a kick out of performing because I think it surprises people who don’t know me very well that the quiet shy person they took me for doesn’t really exist. Love it. I soak up the back stage nerves, the lights, the moment, and then the applause. I was glad for the chance.

I didn't know things were like that at Rack-it. Really girl. You need to keep in touch.
Mom told me about your performance. She's proud of you. Said you did a good job.
I am clapping for you all the way over here.

I want to hear the song! (That's me stomping my foot--I'm sure you can hear it.) So, is there a recoding of any sort? We all NEED to hear you.

I agree with Sally, next time you need to post a video for us! I'm glad you won't be bored anymore with your new job. I, on the other hand, only work 3 days a week (13 hour shifts mind you) but I would LOVE to cut down to 2. I love my job I just don't like working :) Good luck with everything!
